RLC calculator for components in series

I’ve been calculating a lot of components in series lately for an ECR255 class. I’ve also had to graph them on impedance diagrams and a power triangle.

In an effort to better understand the math I made a calculator for myself. Here is it for you to use and enjoy. If you see any problems please let me know. It was designed in excel 2011 for mac… there WILL be compatibility issues and I hope they’re minor.

How it works:

You can fill int the info you have in the orange boxes. Once the boxes are filled in the calculator should fill in the rest.

If you need to modify anything else, it’s all dependant on the orange boxes. I suggest a goal seek by modifying and orange cell.

Thanks Varial Hosting

I cannot stress how important having a quality web hosting company is to me.

http://VarialHosting.com/ is the only choice for me.

Right now I’m sharing close to 15gb of data on several public websites like this one, AudioAholics.com and WBSps.ca

I recently had a database malfunction (cause by my stupidity) and who came to the rescue?  Ryan at Varial hosting.

Many thanks for the years of uninterrupted service and support.

If you need to have something hosted or want to buy a domain name please go to http://varialhosting.com/  tell them APK sent you.

Due to popular demand: Ward-Beck Systems RTO-214 Rack Mount Chassis

Due to popular demand:

Introducing: the Ward-Beck Systems RTO-214 Rack Mount Chassis

APKaudio and Ward-Beck Systems are excited to announce a new lineup of retro products. Started with possibly the most requested and in demand item the WBSps.ca has needed:

a 2RU rack enclosure for (2) 14″ WBS modules.

Most rack users have a 3RU box to enclose (2) WBS modules. With Studios shrinking in size and gear filling up the cramped racks with all the killer deals these day… there has been a need for this enclosure.

Originally designed by veteran WBS fabricator Erwin S. for the current lineup of WBS AMS-8 products. The design updates and fabrication are carried forward by Shop Manager and Mechanical designer at Ward-Beck systems Dave Adams. Dave is a master metal smith utilizing the tools that built the modules WBSps users want to have rack mounted. Dave has been working with APKaudio to create a stable platform in a 2RU enclosure.IMG_0573-2014-05-05 IMG_0577-2014-05-05 IMG_0584-2014-05-05 IMG_0585-2014-05-05 IMG_0586-2014-05-05 IMG_0589-2014-05-05 IMG_0596-2014-05-05

The BUM (Back Unit Mount) will be pre-punched for however you decided to wire it. Power options and i/o varieties make for easy design.

was talking with someone about gold today

I was talking with one of my teachers today about gold in ICs. All the gold is in the wires of big chips…
so I looked around and found another video about the PCB plating

THEN, blessings to youtube, there is a guy smelting it

The day Google unplugs, is the day the worlds knowledge disappear

Going to re-manufacture some WBS daughter boards

As a part of my school program, I’ve decided to take a shot at re-designing 2 WBS components.

First the 4-110 mic pre-amp for the M460 – M461. In the 90s WBS redesigned the card using 5534 but I’m looking at something even more modern.

Second the 109 cards. While at Revolution Recording, Joe D redesigned his version of the 109 card and it was a HUGE improvement. He described it as “taking the cheese cloth off the audio” and he was right.

The idea is to have a plug and play module available for users with a few new features not incorporated in past designs.

Once they’re done I hope to have them for sale on www.AudioAholics.com

Using a POD 2 switcher

I wanted to add some components to my home listening system, so a switcher was needed. I’ve decided to use a POD 2 switcher…
the POD-2 is a (6) Stereo input – stereo switcher that has the ability to sum all inputs. The output of the switcher feeds a Stereo Penny and Giles fader then directly to the Mackie HR824 speakers.
I’ve got to find a panel… but as far as home friendly user interface goes this is as simple as it gets.

2 Radio
3 Mac Mini
4 Cassette
